Psychoanalysis
Psychoanalysis or analytical therapy is a method of investigation or exploration of the unconscious using speech. The root of psychological suffering lies in unresolved childhood conflicts. The goal is to resolve these unresolved internal conflicts. In the process of healing through making the unconscious conscious and releasing repressed feelings and emotions, we come to understand ourselves better. This change in relationship with ourselves allows for a better relationship with others and the world in which we live.
What makes psychoanalysis/analytical therapy profound is that it does not primarily aim at curing or treating symptoms. Its exploration method goes to the root of the symptoms and, in the process, uproots the very cause of the symptoms. Analytical therapy does not use a standard framework that is generalized to all individuals but is a profound investigation that is individualized according to an individual’s history, case and needs.
